How to Show "Units Sold" on Shopify Product Pages (No App Needed)

Adding a “Units Sold” label on your Shopify product page is a great way to boost trust and drive conversions. When customers see that others are buying, it creates a sense of urgency and social proof — making them more likely to click "Add to Cart." 🙌

In this post, we'll show you how to create a dynamic "units sold" display using Shopify’s native features and XynoThemes — no app required.

🔧 Step 1: Add a Custom Metafield for Units Sold

  • Go to your Shopify Admin > Settings > Custom data > Products.
  • Click Add definition.
  • Set the Name to something like units_sold.  it must be exactly units_sold for the theme to recognize it correctly. If you use a different name, it will not work.
    Choose the Type:
    → Select Interger .
  • Save the metafield definition. After savings, your meta look like this

✏️ Step 2: Add Units Sold Data to Products

  • Now go to Products > [Your Product]
Scroll down to the Metafields section.
Enter the number of units sold under your custom field.
    Click Save.

🧩 Step 3: Add the "Units sold" Block

  • From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes.
  • Click Customize on the theme you’re editing.
  • Navigate to Products > choose Default Product (or any product template you’re using).
  • In the theme editor, click “+ Add block” inside the product section.
  • Choose the block called  'Unit solds' . This block shows both "unit solds" and "inventory status"

And see the results:
