
How to Show "Units Sold" on Shopify Product Pages (No App Needed)

Adding a “Units Sold” label on your Shopify product page is a great way to boost trust and drive conversions. When customers see that others are buying, it creates a sense of urgency and social proof — making them more likely to click "Add to Cart." 🙌
In this post, we'll show you how to create a dynamic "units sold" display using Shopify’s native features and XynoThemes — no app required.
🔧 Step 1: Add a Custom Metafield for Units Sold
- Go to your Shopify Admin > Settings > Custom data > Products.
- Click Add definition.
- Set the Name to something like “units_sold”. it must be exactly “units_sold” for the theme to recognize it correctly. If you use a different name, it will not work.
Choose the Type:
→ Select Interger . - Save the metafield definition. After savings, your meta look like this
✏️ Step 2: Add Units Sold Data to Products
- Now go to Products > [Your Product]
Scroll down to the Metafields section.
Enter the number of units sold under your custom field.
Click Save.
🧩 Step 3: Add the "Units sold" Block
- From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes.
- Click Customize on the theme you’re editing.
- Navigate to Products > choose Default Product (or any product template you’re using).
- In the theme editor, click “+ Add block” inside the product section.
- Choose the block called 'Unit solds' . This block shows both "unit solds" and "inventory status"
